At The Isle of Wight Community Food Pantry, we do things differently. As a client-choice mobile pantry, we bring a dignified shopping experience directly to our local communities. Instead of handing out pre-packed boxes, our volunteers set up a pop-up "grocery store" where neighbors can select the fresh produce, dairy, and shelf-stable goods that best meet their family's needs.

Whether you need to maintain your state benefits or earn credits towards you education, our pantry offers verified volunteer opportunities that count!

Are you a high school or college student? Volunteering at the pantry qualifies for major state, local, and school-specific scholarship programs (such as Bright Futures, promise programs, and honors tracking) We provide the official hours verification, supervisor signatures, and recommendations letters required by scholarship committees.

New Federal SNAP and Medicaid work requirements

Volunteering at our pantry helps recipients qualify if you are able-bodied adults aged 18-64 (for SNAP) and 19-64(for Medicaid) can fulfill their 80 hour per month community service or volunteer requirement at a registered non-profit organization such as ours.

Volunteers help us transform open spaces by setting up tents and tables, organizing produce displays, guiding parking and pathways, and explaining the client-choice process with care and warmth. A typical shift lasts 2 to 4 hours, and you can schedule your shifts around your own availability.
